Cofete is not just any beach. We’re talking about more than 12 kilometres of golden sand embraced by the Jandía mountains and wide open to the Atlantic Ocean. Getting here is quite an adventure: you must travel along a dirt road, crossing rocky−almost moonlike−desert landscapes, after previously stopping at a viewpoint that offers sensational views. And once on the beach … no hotels, no sun loungers, no rush. Just pure nature, wind, and sea.
Walking along Cofete means feeling small in the face of a vast, unspoilt landscape. It is not a beach for bathing. It is a place to breathe deeply, to let yourself be impressed and to understand why some corners of our geography deserve to remain as they are. The spectacular route through Jandía Natural Park’s hinterland
There’s no better way to visit this Natural Park than by minivan. Driving in an all-terrain vehicle through endless wind-shaped mountains, ravines, and plains feels like crossing another planet, where nature imposes its law and human presence is barely perceptible. As you climb and descend the slopes, each curve opens up a new perspective: cliffs overlooking the ocean, whimsical rock formations, and the sparkling Atlantic in the background.
