About this excursion to Corralejo and El Cotillo

The best way to discover the north of Fuerteventura is on wheels … but not just on any wheels. On this 4x4 tour of Corralejo you will alternate secondary roads with dirt tracks to reach places where there is no pavement: dunes that truly resemble a desert, silent volcanoes, oceanside villages where time stands still, and quiet beaches with crystal-clear waters.

Corralejo Dunes: the desert by the sea

The excursion begins in one of the island’s most iconic locations: the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park. This sea of golden sand, shaped by the wind, stretches along the Atlantic, creating a hypnotic landscape. Exploring it by 4x4 is an experience in itself. If you’ve ever wondered what is there to see in Corralejo beyond its streets, this is the best starting point. A tour of Fuerteventura dunes should be on any bucket list.

Ascending Bayuyo volcano: geological history in close-up

After having crossed the desert, it’s time to visit a volcano on Fuerteventura: the Bayuyo volcano. This volcanic formation is one of the highest points in the north of the island, and from its slopes, you get to behold a stunning panoramic view of the entire surrounding area. The views, the colours of the earth, the silence … make this section of the route something special. An excursion to a volcano on Fuerteventura is certainly not an everyday entertainment.

Majanicho and Faro del Tostón: between tradition and the horizon

The tour continues towards Majanicho, a tiny fishing village whose little white houses overlook the sea with charming simplicity. It is a place with soul, perfect for taking a deep breath to appreciate the slow pace of this part of the island. A little further on, you’ll reach the Faro del Tostón, a historic lighthouse surrounded by black lava, salt flats, and the grandeur of the ocean.

La Concha Beach and El Cotillo: bathing, strolling and relaxing

The route continues to the El Cotillo Natural Pools, where a long stop is planned for swimming, relaxing or snorkelling at one of Europe’s quietest beaches. Playa de la Concha beach is famous for its crystal-clear water, blonde sand and its family atmosphere. Afterwards, dry and relaxed, we’ll have time to wander around El Cotillo, a charming coastal town where you can have a drink by the ocean or simply take a stroll.

Aloe vera: the last stop before return

Before concluding this adventure, you’ll make one last stop at an aloe vera farm, where you’ll learn all about this medicinal plant, known as ‘the queen of the desert’. Its properties, uses, interesting facts … A relaxing way to round off a day of discovering the highlights of the northern part of the island.
